What I breath

I once fell in love so deeply that I could not help but write about my feelings for this person and all they awoke in me.

It was a love that was eventually betrayed—and yet, in every breath between the pain, I found myself remembering those lines, holding onto them, even as I grieved.

WHAT I BREATH

He climbs a tree,
The skyscrapers of the Earth.
He touches the sky,
Yet never forgets the ground.

His feet are roots,
His soul the soil.
Is he a son of the underneath,
Or from where the stars belong?

His heart is a flower,
Permanently bloomed.
Are the petals magic?
They can heal, I felt it, didn’t you?

He is the oxygen,
The life we breathe.
He is the coconut water
That flows in me,
In you…

He is the blood inside the rocks.
He is the heartbeat of these words.
He brings soul to those who don’t have it.
He heals the ones whose hearts are shaking, rotting.

Sometimes he’s purposely blind,
'Cause he is the seer of everything,
Even without the light from the sun.
The future, the past—
It can get exhausting, don’t you think?

So at times, he finds peace
When his mind is floating.
He holds the Earth’s purpose,
Fuelled by fire inside.
His drive is never-ending,
Cannot keep him still or quiet.

He is constantly flowing,
Just as we all should be.
A human being now—what were you then?
Have you seen other planets?
Have we met anywhere else?

His feet are roots,
His soul is the soil.
His skin is his clothes.
His fire keeps him warm.

Be the oxygen I breathe,
I promise I’ll keep you safe in me.
Keep filling me in,
Be the everything and the nothing
Of the universe I live in.

In every exhale, there is him.
Let me be his ladder, the steps he needs.
And one day, I’ll help him climb higher,
Higher than the palm trees.

Him is you, and you are him.
You are the origin,
The mother, the father,
The end of everything.

Everything is nothing.
Then… what does really exist?

I am the witness of life,
The craving of a soul
That needs a body to tell him, to tell you,
I love him, I love you.

To the reminisence of my love
